Jan 2011 in Review

So I'm going to try and continue to get the blog caught up. Here's a quick post about our January. It was a really warm and mild winter for us, so the skiing wasn't very good and we only went a couple times in January.

I went one day with my friend, Jenny, while the boys were in school. It was a warm January day, but we had a great time skiing and having lunch on Chamrousse.

Here's Jenny.

and me...

and another one looking down into the Grenoble valley.

It was really fun to get away for just a day while the boys were in school, I'm going to try and do this a few more times this coming winter, especially if we have more snow!

These are for Grandma, she made these adorable chef hats and aprons for the kids for their 2010 Christmas presents. CJ loves to put his on and make his favorite breakfast, pancakes.

This is 'our' bakery, and a very popular one as you can see the line on Sunday afternoon.

The bread is excellent and the pastries are amazing.

I'm always too embarrassed to take pictures since I'm in there every couple days, but we were spending the day with Megan and Justin and their kids, so Megan took these for me :)

Then after lunch, we headed up to Col de Marcieu for a little family skiing and sledding.

View on the way up...

I didn't take many pictures skiing since I spent most of the day helping Piper ski, but here are a few that Justin took of our sledding adventures (well, in this first one you can see I'm still skiing w/Piper, but he only lasted a few more turns before he wanted to give up and sled!)

Racing down the sledding hill...

Kevin has Avyn, Justin and Megan's daughter...

and I had Piper, who decided to put his feet down and almost flipped us!

The photo finish.

This time down Piper kept his feet up.

And then he decided to try it on his own...

yeah, no surprise here!

All in all, a very fun day for the kids... but the bigger hills were all closed due to the lack of snow, so we didn't really ski much except for with the kids. The jumping hill wasn't even open, so the boys didn't get to try any more jumps... but there's always next season, which is practically right around the corner now!
