Lacs Robert

On the 14th of July, Bastille Day here in France, we hiked to Lacs Robert.
Lacs Robert is a group of small lakes on Chamrousse, the Olympic ski mountain on the Belledonne Mountain range near Grenoble.

We went with some good friends of ours whose youngest son is in class with our oldest. It was a fun day with many beautiful views and a good hike.

We started by driving up to Chamrousse and took the téléphérique from the Recoin de Chamrousse at 1650 meters up to the Croix de Chamrousse at 2250 meters. From there, we hiked down to the Lacs Robert at around 2000 meters and then around the lake and back down to the 1650 elevation.

At the top of Chamrousse after we got off the téléphérique.

Looking across the valley and enjoying the view - we even found our house using the binoculars!

hiking down the trail....

taking it easy down the steep parts...

the Lacs Robert!

the final descent...

The boys' favorite past time - throwing rocks into the lake.

We ate a picnic lunch at the lake, then continued our hike around the lakes and the back side of Chamrousse and back down to the Recoin de Chamrousse.

snow!

During our final descent we saw this herd of sheep on the mountain.

Aren't they so peaceful looking?

That is, until Kevin snatched one for the boys to pet... bbbbaaaaa!!!!!

Piper was the only one brave enough to approach!

The boys were tuckered out by the end of the long day, but we had a great time seeing the beautiful mountains and lakes and spending time with our friends.
