This was Mom and David's first time in Switzerland. I apologize for not taking any pictures of David and Sandy in Geneva. I had brought along our small camera and was not aware that the memory card was full! So these are pictures from Mom's camera, and apparently we didn't take any pictures of David and Sandy in Geneva with her camera.
The kids were SO happy to have Grandma here!

I was, too :)

The boys looking at the Jet d'Eau in Geneva. Always exciting for them!

We also walked into the old town in Geneva and checked out the St. Pierre Cathedral.

After we drove back to our house, David and Sandy packed up the car and headed south to Rome. They spent a few days there and touring up and down Italy while Mom spent a few days with us in our home here in France. I was terrible at getting pictures as usual when enjoying my time with guests. I am still kicking myself for not taking more pictures of the boys playing with Grandma while she was at our house for just a few days. It was rainy and cold, so we ended up spending a lot of time indoors, just letting Mom get over her jet lag and a cold she picked up right before she came.
Mom and I were able to go to Grenoble and walk around a little one afternoon while the boys were in school. Mom with "Les Bulles", the cable car bubbles that go up to the Bastille over the Isere River behind her.
On Saturday, we decided to head south to see a little sunshine since it was forecasted to continue to rain all day in Grenoble. We went to the Provence region and started at the Ardeche River and the Pont d'Arc, the natural bridge, over the Ardeche River.

It was sunny but still quite cold and windy!

We also headed over to Gordes, one of the most beautiful perched cities in France.
Mom and my boys ;)

In Gordes, looking over the lovely Provence fields.

Saturday was a nice day and it was fun to show Mom a little more of the French countryside.
The one bad thing that happened that day was our van decided to begin acting up. It took Kevin a few nervous minutes and some thumping on the fuel system to get it going after stopping in Gordes, and after that we didn't turn it off until we got home Saturday evening. After some research, he decided it was probably the fuel lift pump, another expensive fix for the cacophony. Ugh. Think like 5 times what it would cost to fix something like that in the US. Again. (we had replaced the fuel injectors a couple months ago and the bill was ridiculous.) I felt bad that I was leaving the next day to travel with my Mom and David and Sandy who already had our other vehicle in Italy (which also left them stranded on their way into Italy, but that's a whole 'nother story!). I knew it would be a challenging week for Kevin alone with the boys and without a vehicle, so I was more thankful than ever that he was gracious enough to let me go and have this once in a lifetime opportunity with my Mom.
Back to the timeline - On Sunday, we drove to Lyon so that Mom and I could fly to Venice where David and Sandy would pick us up to begin our journey down memory lane for Mom. We would spend the next 5 days traveling to all of the places of significance where my Mom lived in Europe. More to come!
