Eric and Karmen visit!

We have had a bunch of visitors since spring break and I'm just beginning to catch up with all the pictures! Our first guests were Eric and Karmen, Kevin's sister. They left their little girl at home with Grandma and came on to see us before baby girl #2 arrives in August! We were so glad they made it - they were the first plane across the Atlantic to this area after the Iceland volcano ash closed all the European airspace back in April. They arrived in Geneva, Switzerland on the 21st of April. The boys and I picked them up then toured around Geneva a little before heading to our house.

Beautiful Lake Geneva.

Boys throwing rocks in the lake (not at the swans, although it did seem like they were!)

The following day, April 22nd, we headed south to Italy on our way to Rome. We stopped in Levanto, along the Mediterranean Sea at a B&B to break up the long drive. We spent a little time in the evening walking and enjoying the beautiful sea and sunset.

I snapped some pictures of Eric and Karmen as the sun set.

Then we ate dinner at this fantastic Italian restaurant where we ate our fill of pasta and seafood. This was Eric and Karmen's fish they had for dinner. The server brought it out to show them before they cooked it to make sure they were happy with it ;)

We loved the B&B we stayed in at Levanto, but it was a little ways off the highway through some very windy and crazy one way roads. On the way in, E started to look pretty green. When we were almost there he said "I want to get out of the van, now," which for him means get a bag quickly, he's going to be sick! Thankfully we were able to get him a bag and he was careful not to get it all over our packed van (the 7 of us plus our bags had it pretty full!). Then the next morning, just as we were getting to the highway again and out of the windy roads, Piper piped up and said "I'm going to puke!" (a little less ambiguous - I was so pround of my 3 year old!). I jumped out of my seat and lunged back to him with a bag in hand and he quickly filled the bag. After he was done, Karmen and I both asked him how he was feeling now and with a huge smile he said "I feel all better now!" What troopers we have. Note to self - always travel with plenty of plastic bags in the mountains! We have also adopted the Schellenberg (our Cat mentors) payment system for kids that get car sick. They get 2 euros if they puke outside the van or don't puke at all and 1 euro if they get it all in the bag. If they puke all over, they 'get' to help clean it up!

More pictures of Rome and Pisa to come!
