Haut-Kœnigsbourg and Kaysersberg, France

After leaving Strasbourg, we stopped at two smaller villages. The first was Haut-Kœnigsbourg to see the Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg.

The Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg was restored in the early 1900's by Wilhelm II, so it's a great 'intact' castle to tour and a must see if you're touring through the Alsace region of France.

My boys love these viewers, and we often don't have any change to let them have a turn. This day we did, and they had fun trying to look for things in the valley below.

View from the outer walls. You can see Germany just over those hills to the East.

Our boys always love the big guns.. go figure!

Hang on to Piper!!

After the Haut-Kœnigsbourg castle, we headed south to a small village called Kaysersberg, France.

Beautiful view of the Alsace region vineyards.

Interesting wall mural in Kaysersberg.

So, why did we stop in Kaysersberg? Well, it was said to be one of the most beautiful towns in the region, that is always a draw for us. Kevin also thought it was the birthplace of Albert Einstein. Make that Albert Schweitzer. I guess he lost something in translation or something. An amazing man, just not the one we were expecting.

Albert Schweitzer birthplace and museum.

That's OK, it was a cute little town in the Alsace region and we had a nice dinner there before heading back home.

We had a wonderful weekend in Germany and the Alsace region of France. Maybe next time we'll make it to Albert Einstein's birth town in Ulm, Germany!
