Switzerland Day 2 - Langnau and Tramelan

So, the following day, we headed out to Langnau, the town where Kevin's Dad can trace his family roots.  Dad was impressed by the neatly stacked wood everywhere, and I have to admit these huge logs perfectly placed were a sight!
This is the church in Langnau, but the cemetary was in another part of town.

 The cemetary map.
 Looking around at grave stones.
This cemetary was huge, and most of the last names were indeed very familiar.. this could have been Wayne or Holmes County!
 Boys will be boys :)
 Beautiful canola fields in bloom.
Um, speaking of relatives, do you think these two are related?!
Some fun pictures along Lake Biel on our way to Tramelan...
 Terraced vineyards along the way...

In the evening, we went to the home of Rudolph and Vreni Geiser.  Some of Kevin's other family members had stayed with the Geisers.  They are a Mennonite family who have a lot of interest and details of the Anabaptist history in the area.  They were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed the home made bread, cheese and wine.

Here Rudolph is showing Kevin his wood burning stove where he bakes his bread.
Kevin and Rudolph looking at maps so we could get the GPS coordinates of the Jura bridge.
 The finished bread!  Yum!
Rudoph also had an interesting collection of pocket watches... these are just a few.
 Enjoying our meal together.
Showing us how to work the shaver for the Tête de Moine, or Monk's Head cheese.  When you shave it off, it makes pretty little cauliflower-shaped cheese ruffles that not only look great, but taste great!
Roy and Ruth with Rudolph and Vreni.
Kevin holding some of their hand made wooden skis!  Their house was full of treasures.
The Geisers in front of their home in Tramelan.
A close up of the trumpet gutter spouts on their house (sure more attactrive than gargoyles!)

Thank you to the Geisers for a wonderful evening of fellowship!  Your hospitality was much appreciated, as was your knowledge on the Anabaptist history and historical sites in the area.
