Skiing!

Before the break, we took all the boys up to Le Sappey, a smaller ski hill just up the hill behind our house to learn to ski. Our oldest already learned the week before, so he was off on his own a lot. Here is CJ learning. You can see Kevin and Piper in the background - that is the best thing about these little places, you can take your little ones sledding on the hills as well, so we could all go together.

He had a blast, but didn't really learn to turn or stop. He was too light for the 'rope pulls' which actually have little discs that go between your legs and under your bum. They would lift him off the ground!
Overall, it was a good first day and we all had fun.
Piper liked my poles.
Le Sappey didn't have too much snow left after the holidays, so Kevin decided to take our oldest up to Chamrousse this past Sunday. It was also a great opportunity to work with him one on one and try some harder slopes.

View from the top.

View going down, our oldest is that little speck on the left.

Doesn't he look so cute?

going down...

Another shot at the top. They had a lot of fun together and by the end, they were able to do the 'red' runs! These are probably about equivalent to black diamonds in the midwest :)
Here's a video for your enjoyment!

i love all your pictures. i am so glad you are keeping a blog to let us all have a glimpse. it can get tedious, i know. although, seeing all your interesting pictures brings out the envy in me....i am already a bit tired of the scenery in my little town, and i don't plan on traveling to another city for another year. ugh. but as I always do i remind myself about the pineapples and the beautiful weather and the loving people.
i jumped through a million hoops today to get my girls enrolled in school here. They are the first non-brazilian students. They were completely puzzled with my girls' birth certificates. But come jan. 26 i will have child free afternoons. yeah!
miss you tons~ brin

I'm with Brin. Except I don't have pineapples. I've got a snowy morning which is actually really pretty.
Kevin did a great job with that video, too.

thanks, the video gets me a little sick and could use some editing, but I thought it was cute to see him in action. I'd like to see Kev hit that jump next time :)
