Girls' weekend in Paris!

The first weekend in May my dear friend Becky came to visit me. We met up in Paris for a girls' weekend. I know, I am so very spoiled!!

I took the train up on Friday and met Becky at the CDG airport. We made our way to our hotel, not an easy job with jet lag and luggage :) and went off to start our sight seeing adventures!

We started at the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées.

Becky in front of the Arc de Triomphe. Yes, I made her stand in the middle of the road for this picture.

Looking the other direction from the Arc de Triomphe down the Champs-Élysées. See, we weren't the only tourists standing in the middle of the road!

Our first dinner on the Champs-Élysées. After dinner, we went back to the hotel and to bed! I had taken a 5AM train up to meet her, so we were both quite tired!

The next day (Saturday) we started at the Louvre.

Original walls of the medieval Louvre.

Aphrodite, widely known as Venus de Milo. And Becky, maybe not as widely known as Sunshine ;)

Greek entrance

Interesting sculptures.

Seated statue of Ramses II.

Egyptian mummies and sarcophagus.

View of the Louvre courtyard from inside.

A look in the Apollo Gallery.

Becky, in anticipation of rounding the corner to see....

the Mona Lisa!

Becky with the Mona Lisa in the background. I can't think of anything that isn't totally cheesy to say here, but I'll just say that Mona Lisa's got nothing on this girl!!

I love this picture in black and white.

After the Louvre, we decided on a whim to get on a little hop on - hop off boat tour that runs up and down the Seine River.

It was totally worth it, and if it's a nice day out, I recommend this. It takes you along the river to the 'big tourist' spots and it's a lovely ride without the annoying narration by the guy who thinks he's funny but isn't.

Another view of the Notre Dame from further up the Seine River.

and the details of the entry above the doors.

inside the Notre Dame Cathedral.

I love the chandeliers...

and the stained glass windows...

and the beauty of the ancient Cathedrals.

The Notre Dame from the front side, you can see all the beautiful windows and flying buttresses from this view.

We hopped back on the Batobus (hop on hop off boat) and cruised up the Seine to the Eiffel Tower.

First time seeing the Eiffel Tower!

Happy friends enjoying a great day together in Paris!

More adventures to come...

Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful. I've had to look through these several times and I keep noticing new things. Ummm, I want to go there! I'm so glad that you and Becky got to spend some time together. Now that is a "girls weekend!"
