The Long Way Home

On Saturday the 26th, we woke up bright and early and packed up the van to head to the northern side of Corsica. We thought it would be a good idea to drive from the middle of the western shore up to the north to catch a ferry out of Calvi. Unfortunately, we didn't factor in the crazy Corsican roads... poor Piper puked a record 4 times along the way. Not to mention poor CJ who also filled a bag, and the other two passengers (E and me) who just wished they could purge and feel better! Needless to say we made a lot of impromptu stops along the 3 hour drive (averaging about 20 km/hr on the switchback roads) and it wasn't the best idea to make a long day that much longer.

The views were the only redeeming factor!

Stopping to let our stomachs settle....

Finally in Calvi!

We ate lunch on the shore then loaded up into the van and onto the ferry that would take us back to mainland France, from Calvi up to Nice.

The views of Calvi as we headed out to sea...

The boys loved watching the ship maneuver out of the bay.

Here we go...

Last view of beautiful Corsica!

A long ride on the ferry...

and finally Nice is in view!

Lots of sailboats...
and our ferry boat.

Just a few of the yachts docked in Nice.

And that ends our vacation pictures from Corsica! I do have a couple videos of the boys playing in the sea but I'm not having much luck getting them uploaded at this point. Corsica was definitely one of our favorite destinations so far. We highly recommend it if you need a relaxing holiday in one of the most beautiful places in the world!

Looks like so much fun! Everyone we know that has gone to Corsica loved it. You have me sold, except for the carsickness and crazy roads. I will have to take a large chill pill!

Vera, our villa was actually close to the port we came into, we just had the not-so bright idea to drive across the island Sat morning to see more of Corsica and Calvi on our way home. I'd highly recommend a vacation to Corsica, even with the crazy roads!!

I could tell how much you really loved it, but had to chuckle about the crazy roads. I am always the white knuckle passenger and have to really concentrate to enjoy the scenery and ignore the potential for nausea or carnage :) when the road gets winding, narrow, etc. We would have done the same thing, to see more of the island :)
